How To Pair Sony WH-1000XM5 To Your PS5

The WH-1000XM5 headphones from Sony are phenomenal, and I personally are over the moon with my decision to purchase them for my desk setup.

Although I primarily used these noise cancelling headphones on the go, or when I’m deep in video editing I have asked myself the question of how to pair the Sony WH-1000XM5’s to my PS5.

Even if they are not really built for that kind of entertainment, but hey, I’f I’ve spent a fortune on them I expect to connect them to any of my bluetooth devices, including my games console.

So how is it done?

How to pair Sony WH-1000XM5 to PS5?

Unfortunately there is currently no way to natively pair your SONY WH-1000XM5 headphones to the PS5 via bluetooth. We have tested a general bluetooth receiver that was plugged in via USB and we still had no luck.

The only way to use your Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones with the PS5 is via the 3.5mm headphone jack on the PS5 controller.

I know what you’re thinking, but these are two Sony products, how do they not work together? My thoughts exactly but it looks like Sony are trying to force their own gaming headphones down PS5 users throat in hopes to make increase profits.

The Sony WH-1000XM5’s are not built for gaming I will admit, but it would be nice to simply pair them up for when I want to use them, or if my gaming headphones have broken.

What other choices do I have?

If you are looking for bluetooth headphones that natively sync with the PS5, your best bet is to take a look at Sony’s PULSE 3D Headphones. These are built specifically for the PS5, they are wireless and even featured 3D sound technology to make it feel like you’re actually in the game.
